Exclusive Sports Illustrated Interview with MTFFL's The Guru

Post by The Guru »

SI: When Brady went down did you really think you had a shot at the title?
TG: I knew I still had a very good team and I also knew Turner was going to burn up the league but the rest of the owners didnt know because he hadnt ever been a starter.

SI: That was a great move by acquiring him before he went on the free agent market.
TG: Well it looks great now of course but I had to save him two years and I had to wait awhile, but I knew it was going to be worth it.

SI: Are you going to win the title this year without Brady?
TG: I think we have as good a shot as anyone, but we are still in a divisional race with the Cheezy one, so we may not even win the division.

Si: After Brady's great year last year alot owners said The Gamblers were a one man team and that you would be nothing without him.

TG: Well alot of oweners say alot things but that dont make it true, but he did carry last year and with Ronnie and Jake getting hurt I knew it was going to be a tough stretch at the end.

SI: Not alot of Owners give you credit for holding the team together and winning the division title when your team was ravaged by injuries, and quite frankly on its way to setting all kinds of MTFFL records before the wave of injuries.

TG: Thats to be expected though, they are Bozos. Sometimes your best coaching job doesnt result in a title it can be the year you won about 4 games on shear coaching ability when you actually should have lost all 4. The second part was very true maybe the greatest team ever assembled.

SI: This year hasnt been exactly easy for you has it?
TG: No, it never is, but that is what makes it fun especially when your hit with adversity and you dont make excuses and you go out their and play with the guys you have, No owners are going to feel sorry for you, because everyone gets hit with injuries and suspensions.

SI: Speaking of suspensions The Gamblers are near the top of the league in that category too?
TG: Yeah it is not something I am proud of but some guys like to fight and get High. I didnt like what Steve did at all and as far as Holmes goes thats water under the bridge.

SI:Some owners call you arrogant, and a loudmouth and that you like the stir trouble up. How do you respond to that?
TG: Who cares what they think its all fun and games to me.

Stay tuned in for part 2 of the SI's Interview with the one and only MTFFL Guru.
His thought on other owners and preditions.

the cover page huh?? thats alot of pub..... guru, can you handle the scrutnity that comes with the cover .... i should know about the pressure being the first back to back, 2 time champ of the mtffl-2.... i hope it does not cause a distraction for your team guru, after all this week is the most important game of the year for you.... w/ the division title on the line.... anything less than a division title could cause the fans to start looking for another coach/owner....the fans in vegas are not too forgiving. whooooooooo

Part 2 Exclusive Interview with MTFFL's The Guru.

SI: Guru, are you the next coach of the TN Volunteers?
TG: Please dont start rumors like that we have a big game coming up this weekend.

SI: Guru, it has to be asked. It is known that you are from TN. Are you a Vol fan?
TG: Of course I am Vol fan.

SI: Do think Fulmer has been treated fairly.
TG: Yea he had his shot, and I think it is time for him to move on, but I would like to say only a few top coaches could actually handle that job.

SI: Could the The Guru handle that job?
TG: Of course.

SI: Has the University contacted you about the job?
TG: No, I have not been contacted.

SI: Have they contacted your agent because rumors are out there that you are the next Vol coach.
TG: I have no idea who my agent has talked to and thier is no need to try and create distractions. I have a commitment to Las Vegas four the next couple of years and that is what I am focused on.

don't tease us like that! i'd much rather have little dave, huntington beach or any other owner than the guru in this league.

he's gotten this far only because of his name. he's a paper champion... won't win the big one!
