2009 Playoff Scenarios

Post by wolfe »

With 2 games left, here's how divisions shape up...

Paydirt Division
After dropping 3 straight, the Zippers (8-4 overall, 3-1 division) finally get a W and the Yankees (7-5, 2-2) suffered a loss. Yankees won the Week 11 matchup. Their game in Week 14 will probably decide the division. The Yankees haven't been to the playoffs since winning the division in 2002, but both the Zippers and Yankees have the wild card as Plan B.
Rocky Tops (5-7) and Salamanders (4-8) are out.

Red Zone Division
The defending champs, Beatniks, own the best record (9-3, 2-2) and the most points in the league by about 100 points. The Oompa Loompas (7-5, 3-1) still have a shot and they play the Beatniks in Week 14. The Oompa Loompas won the head-to-head game in Week 11.
Rockers (5-7) and Rednecks (4-8) are out.

Gridiron Division
The Punishers (7-5, 2-2) lead the division with the Knuckledraggers (6-6, 1-3) just one game back. The Punishers and Knuckledraggers play each other in Week 13. The Punishers won the Week 2 meeting. Neither team has ever won the division or ever made the playoffs. This will likely end the 11 year division domination by the Feagle Eagles (5-7) & Cherry Bombs/Critters (5-7).

Reminder: Rules for Division Title
  • Overall Record
  • Division Record
  • Head-to-Head Record between teams involved
  • Division Points
  • Overall Points
Wild Card
Beatniks 2006.9 (division leader)
Zippers 1908.6 (division leader)
Yankees 1878.3
Punishers 1802.9 (division leader)
Oompa Loompas 1757.2
Rockers 1749.8
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

All the division leaders are losing. Stay tuned until next week.

With the Oompa Loompas losing, that gives the division to the Beatniks.

Plenty of Week 14 drama!

Happy that the Yankees only scored 7.1 from two players. Come on, Yankees, don't choke now!
I've lost 4 of the last 5. Yankees have won 4 out of the last 5. We're on different trajectories -- colliding in the middle.
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

Warner is going the wrong way with points. Another turnover and I'll have to revise all my posts from last night.

I laughed after the first interception. "Ha. He'll have to lose 2 more turnovers for me to lose. He's not going to do that."

After the 2nd turnover. "Um, surely he'll score or start throwing for a bunch of yards."

After the 3rd. "I'm just begging for +1 point in the 2nd half from my QB. Is that too much to ask?"
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

I'd like to see about 10 more turnovers in the 2nd half so the Oompa Loompas can take the wild card

I hope it doesn't get that bad. At some point they'll have to yank Warner for Leinart and save my season. Didn't Warner have 6 turnovers as a Giant a few years back?

Well that was interesting and Michelle slept through it. (She has been working and studying a lot)
Nashville Salamanders, the only team to win a division with a sub .500 record.
