The Preds are most excited by Jeremy Smith. He was the 3rd or 4th goalie taken, but he was the #1 on the Preds board for goalies.

why does it take so long for them to transition to the NHL? is it because they are so young?

why does it take so long for hockey and baseball picks to develop? football and basketball players step right in....

it's not like they don't know how to play the game...

^^^That's a good question. One big reason is that a lot of these guys are only 16-17 years old. Same w/ lots of baseballers, whereas with basketball/football, most of those guys go to college for at least a couple of years, which would put most of them closer to 20-21. (With the exception of the LeBron Jameses of the world.)

It's always hard to tell how good or bad a hockey draft is since there are so many minor/junior leagues and it will likely be 2-4 years before most of these guys have a shot at the NHL.

Just watch Rob Lowe's sterling performance in the classic, "Youngblood." That will explain everything. Maybe.

Smith was the #1 rated North American goaltender!

the Predators apparently plan on bringing up Rinne as they have signed him to a 2-year deal...

That eased my transition from the Vokun era to the Mason era.

That's just sad. If Leipold wants the team to stay in Nashville, he should buy a bunch of season tickets. "Pro" sports are just huge non-profit charity organizations anyway. Right, accounting morons?
