the preds are screwed if the approval goes through to buy the team.
they made a good point on 104.5 yesterday.... if the sale goes through, don't expect the team to sign any high powered free agents. they will probably make huge cuts across the board to lower the operating expenses as much as possible.
in theory, they will throw the season since no one will come watch a team that isn't comeptitive.
Bye, Bye Predators!

but all the fans and local businesses can still step up and go to the games!
this team has not always been good Mick!
they use to really suck ass until the last few seasons, but it was always entertaining!
it does raise doubts in our efforts to re-sign Kimmo, Kariya and Hartnell though.....

that's true... corporate and fans could step up, but will they if we aren't as good as we were this year?
like you said, we had an average of 13,400 fans this year (and we had the #1 team for most of the year ~~ according to reports throughout the year).
with the hockeynews.com reporting that 65% of the people they had polled want them to leave the city....
the predators have an uphill battle.
it will all depend upon if the fans show up... and i don't think they will (at least not to average 14,000).

I agree it will be hard to sign FA with this uncertainty looming. Reading Hartnell inteview in the TN he expressed concern as did an agent of another player. This new owner is going to have a lot to say how the team is formed by just contemplating moving...

They may be staying....
ANAHEIM, Calif.- NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said Monday that even if the sale of the Nashville Predators goes through,
the franchise "is not going anywhere."
"Leipold has until June 19 to exercise a "cure" clause in Nashville's arena lease that would force the city to buy tickets and ensure attendance averages 14,000 next season. Leipold said he has not yet discussed with Balsillie whether to exercise that clause, but will speak to Balsillie.
Balsillie would have to sign a consent agreement with the NHL, including a clause that prevents a new owner from relocating the team for seven years. But an arena lease would have to be in effect to force the new owner to follow that league requirement."

that is the same shit we already know...
if a lease is in place he can't move the team for 7 years!
19 days to see if the clause is enacted.....
