RB Ricky Williams won't be back in the NFL this season. When players in the program retire, it is treated as another strike in the program. So, Williams has a fourth strike, which is a one-year suspension. If he goes back into the drug program voluntarily, the league will treat this season as time served on his suspensions and allow him to return in 2005.

Ricky Williams NFL career is likely over after the former Dolphin running back declined an offer to be reinstated by the league late last week, according to the Miami Herald. Under the terms arranged by attorney David Cornwell, Williams could have returned to the NFL by serving a four week suspension at the end of this season, but he would have had to have been reinstated 30 days before the end of the year, which was last Friday. "Ricky is going to stay on the retired list and I have to conclude that is career is over," Cornwell told ESPN.com.
