Pete Prisco reports Denver Broncos coaches are big believers that their system makes the backs, not the other way around.
So they will fill the starting spot with one of three players, with RB Quentin Griffin the leader heading into camp. He is a smallish player at 5-feet-7, 200 pounds, but he is also tough to tackle because he is adept at hiding in traffic. Griffin doesn't look like a starter, but think along the line of Joe Morris when he was with the Giants.
RB Garrison Hearst is the veteran with the most experience, but he is also injury-prone and has not worked much since signing with the Broncos. Rookie
RB Tatum Bell was an explosive player at Oklahoma State who can give this offense the best chance of a big-play threat. But it will take some time for him to get acclimated to the offense.
Edge: Griffin. He came out of the offseason workouts as the starter, plus the players all think he's the guy.
does anyone want to have this guy for lower than a 6th round pick?
