Steve McNair - QB - TEN
QB Steve McNair could be asked to take cut in pay.
McNair's cap number for 2006 is upwards of $15 million when incentives and bonuses kick in. His base salary is $9 million. McNair turned 33 yesterday and hasn't been able to stay healthy. Look for the Titans to try to restructure rather than cut the Pro Bowl quarterback, even if they draft Vince Young. Feb. 15 - 12:54 pm et

$15 cap number....DAMN
more backloaded Reese contracts! (i know that kept the team together)
isn't he due like a $50million roster bonus soon???
i know we will cut him before paying that, but we need to decide soon!

(KFFL) Teresa M. Walker, of the Associated Press, reports talks to rework Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair's hefty salary cap number doesn't seem to be high on the team's priority list at the moment. Agent Bus Cook told The Associated Press Tuesday, March 21, that he's sure they'll be talking somewhere down the road and isn't sure if that will be after the NFL Draft April 29-30. McNair's cap number is $23.46 million. It doesn't take up as much of the Titans' cap space as before, now that the NFL extended the labor agreement and pushed up the cap to $102.5 million. Cook said he thinks McNair, an 11-year veteran, has up to four good seasons left in his career and needs to be paid as such.

Steve McNair - QB - TEN
Steve McNair reportedly isn't too excited about having to groom his possible successor at quarterback.
His $10 million salary should make it easier. Titans owner Bud Adams admitted the team is looking for a top quarterback. If McNair truly has a bad attitude about the situation, he would be easy to cut. Mar. 30 - 11:14 am et

Uh, Floyd. You're the dumbshit that gave him that contract. The Titans still must solve a potential dilemma with their current QB Steve McNair, who counts $23.46 million against the cap in the final year of his contract. ?I think we have to do something,? GM Reese said. ?You can?t have one player counting a quarter of your cap, no matter who the player is.?
?We have coaches who are paid and paid well, and it?s their jobs to groom the next quarterback not Steve?s,? Reese said. ?A young quarterback can learn a lot from watching a veteran, but it?s not like we?re asking him to build an extra room onto his house for the young guy. It won?t be Steve?s responsibility to groom the young quarterback. The coaches will do that.?
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

BUH-BYE!!!
Steve McNair - QB - TEN
Titans GM Floyd Reese attempted to mend fences with Steve McNair's agent Tuesday.
It may be too late. The Titans will have to give McNair a contract that guarantees him money for 2-3 years to keep him and we doubt they want to. Agent Bus Cook, who also represents Brett Favre, said that a release might be best. Apr. 5 - 12:43 pm et

What's happening to McNair is just embarassing for the Titans. He has a contract. So he should have every right to work out with the team. If the management doesn't want him around then they should cut him.
He's the most talented player on the team. The Titans need him. It's just plain stupid.
