How should we set this up?

Post by Agitator »

Shane (Gamblers) and I are going to be co-commissioners. The Gamblers been known to break some legs in the past so be nice to us!

I think with all the new people it will be hard to say who gets what team. I think it's only fair to do a complete redraft. 18 rounds like normal and use free agency to fill the rest of your team. Snake draft the first year then the following years we will pick as we finish the year (worst gets first in each round)

Here's how I'd like to set it up:

* not allowed to pick up players from the start of games Sunday until after Monday nights game
* use a waiver wire
* 4 keepers
* drop league fees to $20 for first year to get everyone acclimated to the new league
* trades have to be approved by Shane and myself (can call this the Bitter Midget rule). Don't want someone always getting screwed over in trades

Do y'all have any other basic rules that we would like to adopt?

I've gone into myfantasyleague and deleted the images, logos, and contact information for the previous owners.

We can align the divisions any way we want to.

Im not a fan of doing a redraft. I don't want to put words in his mouth (he could have changed his mind) but Shane wasn't either. We have both worked hard to get the players we wanted. We had discussed taking some of the players from Anthonys old team and putting them on the others to make them "better"and worth having some keepers.
Im not sure if we could do this, but it was suggested by the guy that I have invited to do a 4 round pick em from the available teams. All the players on the open teams would be available. They pick their 4 keepers draft style. Seems like a fair way to do it, but trying to get the eight together to pick basically a pre-draft would probably not work. Just thought Id throw it out there.....mabe able to work off of that. A modification of that would be if you and Shane as co-Commishes did the picking and moved them to the teams. I can help by taking a couple of teams. We draft as we honestly would and those would be those teams keepers.

I hate the waiver wire idea. That's one thing that made these leagues different. I could however agree to wait till after Monday nights game for the open waivers to begin(although Im not a big fan of that either). I think that's a good compromise.

When you say Snake draft do you mean a true snake where the 12th pick also has the 13th pick? Im in favor of keeping the NFL style of drafting that we have now. If we start changing things too much we are going to become a standard ESPN or Yahoo league. As far as draft order, I don't mind drafting in the order of last seasons standings which would have me picking last by the way, or we could do a random draft order this year and then go by standings next season. Whatever everyone agrees on is fine with me.

League fees can be whatever you guys decide. I will pay whatever is required.

I honestly think we should put the rules in that we really want, even if its 5 or 6 keepers instead of 4 or whatever you want to do. People are always scared of change for some reason, as evidenced in both the MTFFL leagues over the past few years. Once we have the new people, and they just start getting comfortable with how the league works, they may not be so easy to convince to make changes. You guys know the people you have invited better than anyone else. I guess we should feel them out and let them know we have rules votes every year and the 2/3 it takes to get a rule passed or whatever. That is another thing I have always loved about these leagues. There wasn't a "dictator" as commish. He always made us feel we could make changes or bring ideas to the table. This could be compelling to these "newbies". I have played in leagues that were a dictatorship and it sucks. But we should get the rules in the way we want that we would be happy with "forever" in case people are resistant to change.

I cant think of anything else at the moment but will add to the thread as I think of something!
